Each year, right after Halloween, comes what I call The Holiday Season. When I was a kid, I loved this time of year. I guess I still do, but the Holiday Season is certainly different for me nowadays.
For one thing, I live in a warm climate year round. It’s very interesting to walk out of 80 degree temps and into a store playing Christmas tunes to see wintery holiday displays. Even more interesting to walk back out to the 80 degree temps. It certainly makes my brain work harder to discover where in the world I am as I shop.
Another big difference is the age of my children. They are grown up now. I don’t have to fight tooth and nail during my holiday shopping experience for the latest “cool” toy or video game. I can’t say I miss it, but I will be watching the video from 15 years ago when the kids opened up all the “cool” toys I fought to acquire. Totally worth it, by the way.
So now, I’ve moved into a different phase. Now instead of packing up the kids and the car to go visit family during the Holiday Season, the kids pack up a few things and come to my house to visit. Also pretty cool, if you ask me.
Will your Holiday Season be filled with ever changing events?
